Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in Bakersfield with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in California may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 8 amβ9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Owens Street Market at (661) 323-1249; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.
Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 89 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded asian grocery stores in Bakersfield.
Bakersfield is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Bakersfield is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

We shop here from time to time because it's really close to our house and we believe in putting our money back into OUR community which is why when the chicken we bought TWICE was rancid we let it slide. We bought chicken fajitas yesterday which we fed to our kids and then saved the leftovers. My husband was eating the leftovers today when he discovered blue used chewing gum in the meat. When he confronted the owner he just shrugged and said "I don't know how that got there". He didn't try to make it right in ANY way and didn't seem to care at all that we fed this to our kids. Never buying anything here again. Tequate market is the same distance away and Rainbow Market is close too and has much better meat and a more diverse selection. Also, Rainbow market gives you a free 2 liter soda when you make a decent purchase. Screw this place, shop Rainbow or Tequate market instead.

Ever since this store has been managed by NEW Owners it has been top Notch service! Although like most little corner stores around the community certain things will be doubled price compared to major grocery stores like FoodMaxx, Albertsons, ext. (How else can little markets like this stay in businnes, right?) So if anyone out there is near by, Don't b afraid to stop by. These guys have fresh cut meat and other goodies along with their Xcellent service. although new 2 da neighborhood please give them a warm welcome! Thanks.
